A perennial that's part of the daisy family Astercaeae, often known as marigolds. They are native to the Mediterranean, western Europe, and southwestern Asia. Calendula has been used both medicinally and for culinary purposes, such as salads.

Greeks and Romans used calendula in ceremonies, such as wearing crowns made of it. The flowers are sacred in India and were used to decorate Hindu statues.

According to research, calendula merits its reputation for wound healing. The herb's antifungal and antimicrobial qualities aid in infection prevention and tissue healing.

Calendula is also known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may aid in the battle against cancer, heart disease, and muscular tiredness.

Calendula tea can also help with:

- Assist in skin healing. Calendula tea is often applied to the skin rather than drunk to encourage healing. In one trial, 78% of patients who used calendula tea to treat diabetes-related foot ulcers healed completely. Another study found that 72% of people who used calendula tea had complete healing of leg ulcers, compared to less than a third of the control group.

- Provide antioxidants. According to preliminary study, calendula tea may have high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Calendula contains carotenoids and flavonoids, which have been linked to a decreased risk of cancer and other disorders.
