Welcome! You will receive a sealed bag of cinnamon chips (Cinnamomum burmannii). No pesticides or other chemicals are used!

Since ancient times, people have known about cinnamon. Although it was brought to Egypt as early as 2000 BC, some who claimed it originated in China mistook it for Cinnamomum cassia, a related species.  A beautiful inscription documents the gift of cinnamon and cassia to the temple of Apollo at Miletus. Cinnamon was so highly valued in ancient cultures that it was seen as a gift fit for monarchs and even a deity.  In order to maintain their monopoly as suppliers, those in the spice trade in the Mediterranean for centuries kept their source a trade secret.

One of the two primary varieties of cinnamon—Ceylon ("true" cinnamon) or Cassia (the common variety)—or a combination of the two—could be the cinnamon you purchase at the shop. Although Ceylon is simpler to grind, it could not offer the same health advantages.

Latin name: Cinnamomum burmannii

Physical Properties

Cinnamon contains a lot of antioxidants. Your body is shielded by antioxidants from oxidative damage brought on by free radicals.

Cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure are three major heart disease risk factors that cinnamon may reduce.

At 1-6 grams or 0.5-2 teaspoons per day, cinnamon has been shown to significantly lower fasting blood sugar levels and to have a strong anti-diabetic effect.

Due to its antifungal and antibacterial properties, cinnamonaldehyde may help prevent infections, fight tooth decay, and freshen breath.
